Gilmour joins AHL team's coaching staff (AP)
Former NHL star Doug Gilmour joined the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies as an assistant coach Thursday after spending the past two seasons working as an adviser to the parent Maple Leafs. "We are thrilled to have Doug join the coaching staff of the Marlies," Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher said in a statement.

NHL promotes Collins to COO (AP)
The NHL has promoted John Collins to chief operating officer. The former NFL and Cleveland Browns executive will now oversee league communications and club consulting and will continue the duties in business and media operations he has held as senior executive vice president since 2007. Former Habs D Hill signs with Swiss team (AP)
NHL veteran Sean Hill, who helped the Montreal Canadiens win the 1993 Stanley Cup, signed a one-year contract to play for the Swiss club Biel. Biel said Thursday that Hill will play the upcoming season with the club, which finished first in Switzerland's second division last season and was promoted to the top league through the playoffs.

Sharks re-sign Clowe to 1-yr, $1.6M deal (AP)
Right wing Ryane Clowe agreed to a one-year, $1.6 million contract to stay with the San Jose Sharks on Monday. Clowe was a restricted free agent after scoring eight points in 15 games last season. He missed 67 games after undergoing surgery on his right knee, but returned with four games left in the regular season before scoring nine points in 13 playoff games.

Wings sign McCrimmon, MacLean to staff (AP)
The Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings added Brad McCrimmon to their coaching staff Monday and re-signed assistant Paul MacLean. McCrimmon spent four seasons as an assistant in Atlanta after previous stints with Calgary and the New York Islanders. The former defenseman played 18 seasons in the NHL, including three with Detroit in the early 1990s.

Sens re-sign Vermette for 2 yrs., $5.25M (AP)
Antoine Vermette signed a $5.25 million, two-year contract extension with the Ottawa Senators on Thursday after a season in which he had career highs in goals and points. He earned nearly $1.1 million last year. Vermette had 24 goals and 53 points while appearing in 81 games last season. He was among the league leaders with a 57 percent faceoff win rate.

The son of Hall of Fame goaltender Patrick Roy has been charged with assaulting a rival during a Major Junior Hockey League playoff game last March. Quebec Remparts goaltender Jonathan Roy, 19, faces one count of assault against Chicoutimi Sagueneens goalie Bobby Nadeau. The single charge was filed Thursday in Saguenay, where the brawl occurred.

Jackets sign G Leclaire to 3-year deal (AP)
The Blue Jackets re-signed restricted free agent goalie Pascal Leclaire on Wednesday to a three-year contract through the 2010-11 season. The 25-year-old Leclaire is coming off his best season, going 24-17-6 with a 2.25 goals-against average, .919 save percentage and nine shutouts in 54 games. He ranked second in the NHL in shutouts, seventh in goals-against average and 11th in save percentage.

The Minnesota Wild have waived veteran forward Mark Parrish with three years left on his contract. Minnesota general manager Doug Risebrough says Parrish was simply a victim of the NHL's salary cap. He was paid $2.5 million last season and would have cost the team a salary cap hit of $2.65 million this season, bringing the Wild about $2.1 million short of the cap.

Bruins sign Fs St. Pierre, Thompson (AP)
The Bruins have signed restricted free agent forwards Martin St. Pierre and Nate Thompson. Boston acquired St. Pierre's rights from the Chicago Blackhawks in a trade for Pascal Pelletier last week. The 24-year-old St. Pierre played in five NHL games last season and spent time with the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate in Rockford, Ill.

Panthers extend D Bouwmeester for 1 year (AP)
Defenseman Jay Bouwmeester agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Florida Panthers on Monday, one day before the sides were scheduled to go to salary arbitration. Bouwmeester will make between $4 million and $5 million next season, nearly doubling his salary, but the sides couldn't agree on a long-term deal that the Panthers sought.

Bruins buy out final year of Murray deal (AP)
The Boston Bruins have bought out the final year of veteran right-winger Glen Murray's contract. The team announced the move Saturday. The 35-year-old Murray, a 16-year veteran, has scored 337 goals with 314 assists in 1,009 regular season games. Murray was in his second stint with the Bruins and was their first-round pick in 1991.

The Washington Capitals signed defenseman Shaone Morrisonn to a one-year contract on Saturday. The 25-year-old played his third full season with the team in 2007-08, totaling 10 points and 63 penalty minutes in 76 games. He also played in the Capitals' playoff series against the Flyers. The Vancouver native was acquired from Boston in 2004.

Wild keep Bouchard for 5 years, $20.4M (AP)
The Minnesota Wild re-signed right wing Pierre-Marc Bouchard to a five-year, $20.4 million contract on Saturday. A first-round selection by the Wild in 2002, the 5-foot-10 and 172-pound Bouchard had a career-high and franchise-record 50 assists last season. The 24-year-old Bouchard also had 13 goals. Bouchard's new contract includes a no-trade clause for the first two years.

Predators give Peverley, Rinne new deals (AP)
The Nashville Predators signed center Rich Peverley to a two-year deal and goaltender Pekka Rinne to a one-year contract extension Friday. The team said that Peverley will be paid $475,000 at the NHL level and $100,000 at the minor league level in the first year of the contract. In the second year, the 26-year-old will make $500,000.
