An injured American Le Mans Series crewman was upgraded to fair condition at an Indianapolis burn center as he recovers from burns he suffered in pit fire. De Ferran Motorsports said Thursday that fueler Keith Jones is continuing to make good progress after he was critically burned during a race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course last month.

Former Indy driver Greg Weld dies at 64 (AP)
Greg Weld, who won 21 U.S. Auto Club sprint car races and was the series national champion in 1967, died Monday. He was 64. The cause of death was not immediately known. Lightning hits 91 spectators at racetrack (AP)
A lightning bolt struck 91 auto racing fans at a racetrack in Norway Sunday, and 45 people were taken to hospital with minor burns, police said. "No one was seriously injured," police officer Hans Eng told the Associated Press. "But some of them will stay in the hospital for observation."
