Danish footballer Nicklas Bendtner, a former Juventus Turin forward, has revealed that one day he found two legends of that club, Gianluigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo, smoking in the bathroom.
In dialogue with the British channel BBC 5 Live, Bendtner recounted his first day at the Juventus training center.
“I went to the bathroom, I couldn’t find the boys (…) So, I found ten or twelve of them in the bathrooms, drinking coffee, talking, enjoying each other’s company and smoking a cigarette,” said the forward.
“It was an amazing image and I felt that that would be something that I would enjoy,” he recalled, noting that among those players were Buffon and Pirlo.
In this regard, he stressed that these two legends cannot be blamed for smoking, because the professionalism and camaraderie they showed on the pitch was of “another level.”
In addition, he indicated that in “all the clubs” that the footballers played smoked, and that in Italy this is “normal”.
Nicklas Bendtner played for the Denmark national team and for Arsenal FC, among other clubs, but his promising career suffered from problems with alcohol and gambling. He currently plays for a team in the Danish fourth division.
