Billy, the Koala Who Died After Severe Fire Burns in Australia

We know that one of the endemic species most affected by the devastating fires in Australia has been the koalas, who saw their habitat destroyed and who have starred, along with good humans, videos in which they manage to save themselves from the flames or pray for Water and help.

One of those koalas was Billy, who went viral for his tender -and sad photos- where his legs appeared bandaged after being rescued and hospitalized and who, it was reported, failed to survive because of the severity of his injuries.

Billy was rescued from the flames in Kenton Valley. He had serious burns on his four legs and on his tailbone. Although their caregivers did not give up, this week they announced the death of the small marsupial.

Dear Billy did not reach the end of his recovery journey. He was doing very well, until one day, he just wasn’t anymore.

Early one morning, when the sun came out and the birds began to sing, he closed his beautiful eyes and went to sleep, “you can read in the Instagram post, by Adelaide & Hills Koala Rescue, which so far, according to his page, they have rescued 1300 koalas.
