Now that he’s officially divorced, Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon and the richest man in the world in 2017, has given himself the taste of buying the ‘One’ residence, valued at 165 million dollars and the most expensive mansion in the United States.
The luxurious mansion, very similar to that of ‘Ricky Ricón‘, has five floors, several swimming pools, a disco, movie theater, helipad and own golf course, among other amenities.
It was built inside the Bel Air area, one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Los Angeles, in the year 1930 and with the intention of pleasing Jack Warner, former president of Warner Bros. studios.
Subsequently, the humble abode was sold in the early 1990s to real estate broker David Geffen, who removed the Georgian style that the property had to remodel it, adapt it to modern demands and turn it into the palace it is today, all with the intention of selling it to set the record for the most expensive mansion in the United States.
Geffen spared no frills and glamor. At the time, one of the architects in charge of the remodeling said that “he had to give up a room with water tanks with live jellyfish that covered the walls” to perfect the spa area and the room for meditation.
The residence was ready for sale since 2015, however, some licensing and permit procedures were responsible for the transfer being postponed.
Now, Bezos can sleep a different night in each of the bedrooms for a month, since none of the 20 rooms is contemplated for visits. For tenants it was designed to host not one, but two guest houses in the garden, very close to the tennis court and the nine-hole golf course.
Amazon’s venture capital firm, ‘Bezos Expeditions‘, also bought an undeveloped plot of land for $90 million, reports the Wall Street Journal. The land, which belonged to the late co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen, was purchased as an investment property.
In such a way that Jeff Bezos not only holds the record of the most expensive mansion in the United States, or of being one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the paneta, but with that little house, in addition, he becomes one of the most sought after singles from the northern neighbor country.
The previous record for the most expensive mansion in the United States was held by Bezos‘ new neighbor, Lanclan Murdoch, CEO of Fox Corporation, who bought the iconic “Chartwell Estate” palace in the Bell Air neighborhood for $150 million.
