According to information from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Cowboys will put pressure on Dak Prescott to sign as a franchise player before Tuesday, March 10 and thus prevent him from entering free agency, facing the Draft of the following campaign.
Different media outlets have indicated an alleged interest of the Cowboys in hiring Tom Brady, whose future is still unknown, but the truth is that the priority for those of the ‘Lone Star’, is to ensure the permanence of Dak Prescott.
“We want to do this. Things are getting fixed and we all want to reach an agreement,”said Stephen Jones, director of operations for the Cowboys, according to the same source.
Prescott is the bet of the present and future for the Dallas franchise.
Although the Cowboys did not reach the postseason for the first time since Dak Prescott is the starter, the quarterback had his best season, being the passing leader of the entire NFL with 4,902 yards and 30 scoring passes.
Curiously, it was the campaign in which Prescott received the most criticism, from the hand of Jason Garrett, but in the following campaign, his head coach will be Mike McCarthy, who for years worked alongside one of the most successful quarterbacks, such as it’s Aaron Rodgers.
