This is how Donkeys are Forced to Transport Obese Tourists Uphill in Greece [VIDEO]

Recently, images of how on the Greek island of Santorini forced donkeys to transport overweight tourists uphill for 500 steps from the port to the city of Fira.

Already last year, the Hellenic Government passed a law that prohibits any tourist over 100 kg from riding donkeys, in an attempt to protect animals.

However, the animal rights group PETA has claimed that donkeys are still mistreated by tourists and agencies that charge for this service, and accuse local authorities of covering up the fact.

“Donkeys suffer for tourists. Please do not ride them,” says one of PETA‘s messages.

The following video was filmed in September.

Located right next to the steps a cable car works. In addition, buses and taxis can be used to move around the area, which makes the heavy work to which animals are subjected even more unnecessary.
