Zlatan Ibrahimovic Launches a Campaign to “Kick” the Covid-19

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, striker for the Italian club AC Milan, launched a fundraising campaign to fight the coronavirus pandemic, which has already left 8,657 dead and 207,860 infected worldwide.

“If the virus does not go for Zlatan, Zlatan will go for the virus,” promises the footballer in a video to promote the initiative, whose slogan is “Let’s kick the coronavirus!”.

His campaign, promoted through the GoFundMe site, focuses on helping Italian hospitals and has already collected more than 150,000 euros (about $163,500), of which 100,000 have been donated by Ibrahimovic himself.

“Italy has given me so much that, in this dramatic moment, I want to give back even more to this country that I love so much,” said the veteran attacker.

“Together we can really help hospitals, doctors and nurses who work selflessly every day to save our lives,” said the player, who calls for “kicking the coronavirus together and winning this game.”

Since the start of the pandemic, 35,713 infected cases and 2,978 deaths have been registered in Italy, being the second country most affected by the coronavirus, only behind China.

Italy has always given me so much and, in this dramatic moment, I want to give back even more to this country that I love. I decided, together with the people who are working with me, to create a fundraiser for Humanitas hospitals and to use my communication power to spread the message wider. It’s a serious issue and we need a concrete help that’s not just about a video. I count on the generosity of my colleagues, of all professional athletes and of those who want to make a small or large donation according to their possibilities, to kick this virus away. Together we can really help hospitals and doctors and nurses who selflessly work every day to save our lives. Because today we are the ones cheering for them! Let’s together kick the CoronaVirus away and win this match! And remember: if the virus don’t go to Zlatan, Zlatan goes to the virus! Link in bio
